4 Differences Between Websites And A Blog

[category products business]
[tags websites, blogs,]

Blogs are sites where a person can put a shared journal or a businesses can even promote their website. There have been a lot of questions out there lately of how a blog works and how they are different from other website. There are usually 4 basic differences that make a Blog unique from a website.

1. Posts Posts are said to be the core function of any blog. It is the building blocks of the blog and it is what holds the blog together. The posting on the blog is most generally done by the blog owner and is usually on a variety of different topics. Also another distinct difference between a blog and a website is on the blog the postings will appear in chronological order. With a website you do not have to post. It is just a basic site where a person may go to obtain information on a certain product or idea.

2. Comments On a blog visitors are allowed to leave comments, if you the owner authorize it, on your posts. It is also a good way for a reader of your blog and you to communicate. The comment section of your blog also helps drive visitors to your site. The comment section is a very important component of any blog. With a website you do not have to have a comment section.

3. Categories The category section of your blog is basically where the information from the posts or posted content is organized. It keeps your site looking neat and well formatted. It also prevents your blog from looking overcrowded. For bigger Blogs the categories can be organized by month or even topic. There is also usually a search feature that assists the reader to find information on a certain topic quickly. Usually the blog has software that automatically places your posts into various categories.

4. Subscriptions This is a very important aspect when you want to learn how a Blog works. The subscription features allows readers to become a member of the blog and once they become a member of the blog they can be notified when new information is placed on a blog. This is a great reason to create a blog as it allows you to create an online community on a certain topic. Some blog sites are now implementing a news letter feature which allows a person to read your information without even having to sign into the site.

As you can see there are some big differences between a blog and a website. The more differences you understand the more you will understand Blogging. A Blog can be a fun and exciting way to meet new people while sharing your ideas, if they are understood correctly.

Great Tips For A Successful Home Business

[category business]
[tags business,]

Having a home business presents many unique challenges and rewards. Not only do you have to take care of the actual product or service that you offer, you also need to take care of the administrative and marketing duties as well. Here are some tips to help keep your home business going.

When you are just starting with your home business, it can be difficult to separate home life and work. You can find yourself in situations where you are trying to do work around the house, do work related to your business, and also relax at the same time. This can lead either burn out from working too much or not enough productivity by focusing too much time on other things. It is important to set boundaries between your home life and your home business, and allocate specific times during the day that you devote to each.

Run a contest on your business website. Spread the word about your contest through forums that your customers frequent, contest boards, ezines, guest blog entries and any other methods you can find. Make it fun, keep it simple and devise a prize that is worthwhile, but not over-the-top. Contests bring traffic.

Determine an advertising budget for your home business. It is important to trade with other companies, offer a selection of free products for prizes and have other means of advertisement. However, the costs can quickly add up, so it is important to be aware of how much you have to spend and stay within that limit.

Participate in trade shows that focus on your particular product or service. Trade shows provide a great way to network with others in your industry. It is also an effective way to promote your business to many potential customers by providing you with a setting to demonstrate your product or service.

You should contact a business lawyer in your area before you actually start your business. There may be laws that your state has established regarding home businesses of which you may not be aware. Contacting a business attorney is a great way to find out what the laws are and to find out what you need to do in order to follow them.

Get the right insurance for your home business. You'll need to insure your business property, of course, and if you use a vehicle for business, you might need special insurance coverage for it, too. You may need business liability coverage, and you should also have health insurance if you're not covered by someone else's policy. You should discuss your situation with a qualified insurance agent to best protect yourself and your business against the unexpected, whether it's storm damage, a car accident, or a medical problem.

Search engine optimization is a vital tool to increase the Internet visibility of your home business. Search engine optimization can be an excellent method for owners of home businesses to market their sites online and increase their audience size. You can get involved with the SEO process by hiring expert consultants or by learning how to do your own optimization.

Don't let yourself be lazy with your home business. Write up a business plan before you open up shop, and be sure to stick to it. If you want to be absolutely certain your plans are sound, contact a business adviser for a few expert tips before you open your doors for business.

Use these tips to help keep your home business going. A home business can be frustrating at times, but the independence that you have to really make your business shine is something that no one else can replace. Just make sure you handle all parts of your business and your business will do well.

Are You Ready To Become Self-Employed

[category current events]
[tags employment,business,]

If you are interested in starting a business, or taking over one, you face a daunting task that carries a level of risk and excitement not possible in the 'employee' world.

If the financial independence of self-employment appeals to you - no boss, no income limits as to time and wage, and the ability to let your personal drive determine your compensation - then you will no doubt be eagerly going over the many options available to release you from your current job.

However, the rush of financial excitement must be tempered by the necessary cost of time, money and effort in properly setting yourself up independently.

Despite income claims made by business opportunity companies, or competing businesses, you must be ready to accept the reality of not seeing personal income for several months - or even years.

Starting a self-employed business on the side, while keeping regular employment as your financial security, is a wise method of ensuring your income.

Another option is to have substantial savings that permit you the freedom to pursue your dreams unencumbered with other employment. However, the savings must also be capable of carrying the costs of developing a business along with providing for your material needs.

Do you also recognize the time that is required in starting your own business? In some ways it is almost unnecessary to bring up the point since your passion will likely drive you to spend many hours in your pursuits. If you have other obligations; family, job, social etc. then you will have to consider if you CAN devote the time needed to get your business off the ground.

Having discussed both money and time, you must recognize that there is much more effort extended BEFORE a business is profitable than at any other time in your business. Yes, once you are getting work and are satisfied with the income level you may be very busy indeed but you will then be compensated for it. When you are still cultivating your business - marketing, doing free jobs, searching for clients and customers - you may not be seeing any income, or a very meager one, which makes your EFFORTS seem immense.

Do not falter! If you come to the point when you are working your hardest and doing everything your business requires but still not seeing monetary results, you may hit a psychological wall. This is where truly entrepreneurial individuals see an obstacle to overcome as opposed to a dead-end to their hard work. Passion for their work and the strong desire to work for themselves overcomes any perceived barriers and moves them to keep going and ultimately becoming very successful.

By persevering you will certainly see the fine fruits of your labors and prove to yourself and others that the benefits of self-employment far outweigh the mediocre status quo of the typical worker's daily grind.

A Day In The Life Of An Affiliate Marketer

[category business]
[tags marketer,marketing,affiliate,]

Being in the affiliate marketing business is not that hard now with the internet at your disposable. It is much easier now compared to the days when people have to make use of the telephones and other mediums of information just to get the latest updates on the way their program is coming along.

So with technology at hand, and assuming that the affiliate is working from home, a day in his or her life would sound something like this?

Upon waking up and after having breakfast, the computer is turned on to check out new developments in the network. As far as the marketer is concerned there might be new things to update and statistics to keep track on.

The site design has to be revised. The marketer knows that a well-designed site can increase sign ups from visitors. It can also help in the affiliate?s conversion rates.

That done, it is time to submit the affiliate program to directories that lists affiliate programs. These directories are means to attract people in joining your affiliate program. A sure way of promoting the affiliate program.

Time to track down the sales you are getting from your affiliates fairly and accurately. There are phone orders and mails to track down. See if they are new clients checking the products out. Noting down the contact information that might be a viable source in the future.

There are lots of resources to sort out. Ads, banners, button ads and sample recommendations to give out because the marketer knows that this is one way of ensuring more sales. Best to stay visible and accessible too.

The affiliate marketer remembered that there are questions to answer from the visitors. This has to be done quickly. Nothing can turn off a customer than an unanswered email.

To prove that the affiliate is working effectively and efficiently, inquiries would have to be paid more attention on. Nobody wants to be ignored and customers are not always the most patient of all people. Quick answer that should appear professional yet friendly too.

In the process of doing all the necessities, the marketer is logged on to a chat room where he or she interacts with other affiliates and those under that same program. This is where they can discuss things on how to best promote their products.

There are things to be learned and it is a continuous process. Sharing tips and advices is a good way of showing support. There may be others out there wanting to join and may be enticed by the discussion that is going on. There is no harm in assuming what opportunities ahead.

The newsletters and ezines were updated days ago, so it is time for the affiliate marketer to see if there are some new things happening in the market. This will be written about in the marketer?s publication to be distributed to the old and new customers.

These same publications are also an important tool in keeping up to date with the newly introduced products. The marketer has put up a sale and promotion that customers may want to know about. Besides, they have to keep up with the deadline of these sales written in the publications.

It is that time to show some appreciation to those who have helped the marketer in the promotions and sale increase. Nothing like mentioning the persons, their sites and the process they have done that made everything worked.

Of course, this will be published in the newsletters. Among the more important information that have been written already.

The marketer still has time to write out recommendations to those who want credible sources for the products being promoted. There is also time to post some comments on how to be a successful affiliate marketer on a site where there are lots of wannabees.

Two objectives done at the same time. The marketer gets to promote the product as well as the program they are in. Who knows, someone may be inclined to join.

Time flies. Missed lunch but is quite contented with the tasks done. Bed time?.

Ok, so this may not be all done in a day. But then, this gives you an idea of how an affiliate marketer, a dedicated one that is, spends the marketing day.

Is that success looming in the distance or what?

Backgroundcheck Org -Know What Your Rights Are

[category current events]
[tags backgroundcheck,rights,civilissues,]

If you are looking for information on what may or may not be included in a back ground check, you should go to backgroundcheck org.

This is a site that will tell you exactly what is or is not included when someone is looking you up in the case of being hired for a new position, or even becoming a volunteer.

9/11 had a big impact on how people view security in this country and in-depth back round checks have pretty much become the norm.

Backgroundcheck org is a wonderful resource for letting you know what your rights are and what must be disclosed to you as a result of the background check.

For instance, if the person or company doing the check wants to check your credit report they must first tell you they are going to do it and give you a summary of your rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

If they fail to do this, you could go after them for a grand total of $1,000. Most people do not know this, but now you do. If they check your credit and do not tell you, you can, and should, sue them for $1,000.

No one can do a background check on you with out you giving them your permission. If you are interviewing for a new job you must fill out a form allowing your new prospective employer the access to your information.

Other rights you have that you may not know about are:

If, during the background check, someone reports something negative about you that causes you to not get the position you have applied for, you must be told, and the identity, and source, of the negative information must be revealed to you. You should receive a copy of the report.

If the information in the report you are given is incorrect, you must be given the opportunity to contest it and then find a way to disprove the information included in the report.

It is everyone's best interest to study up on the laws in your state regarding your personal information. Every state is different and you may be able to get some of your information removed from being accessible to the public by going to court and having it legally removed. Some things are simply no one else's business.

Needing to find out about someones background is not just for employers. Any one can order a background check and if you need a new daycare provider for your children or are looking to hire someone to do some work for you like say, a remodel of your kitchen or a subcontractor to build you a new house, you should spend the money and get one done.

Go to backgroundcheck org (don't forget the dot) and learn all you can about the whys and wherefores of why you might be subjected to a background check or why you may need to order one on someone else yourself. It could be the difference between a job well done by a reputable person or company or the nightmare of inviting someone into your home that you really do not want there.

Article Marketing Campaign 5 Key Elements

[category ]
[tags Article, writing,marketing,]

Having a successful article marketing campaign is something that many new to internet marketing dream about and that many others have seen come true. Creating a successful article marketing campaign is possible but only if you are able to incorporate these 5 key elements into your article marketing campaign. If you miss out on any of these you may be missing out on success.

To have an article marketing campaign for a product or service you are interested in promoting that sees positive results you need to have an audience, knowledge about that audience, and knowledge of that product or service. You also need knowledge of the keywords that can be successful in reaching that market, know how to write an effective article that gets them to take action.

You may think that you have a great product on your hands but it is only as great as the number of people interested in it if your desire is to make sales. You need to find out that there is a market for what you are trying to promote. Any article marketing campaign has to have an audience if it is going to work. Do your research and see how much is sold and how great the demand is.

Now that you have for your article marketing campaign an audience, you have to educate yourself on them. Find out who they are, where they live, where they look for information, and where they shop. Investigate their buying behaviors and look to see what things are working in capturing sales from that group. Make sure that you are able to write in a style that is on their level and will appeal to them.

Knowing about that audience is great but another thing that you need to have to get that article marketing campaign successful is knowledge about that product/service. You are trying to set yourself up as an authority on the matter. You have to accomplish this in order to when not only their trust but their business. You have to know what you are talking about before they really listen to you.

For your article marketing campaign, use a lot of time and energy to find the right keywords. Find out what gets results and what will get you on page one. Your articles aren't going to be doing any good if the search engines won't notice them. Find the best keywords and plan on using them.

The most important part of your article writing campaign is the writing of the article. Make sure that you have a title that will get picked up by search engines and will catch the readers attention. Make sure that it answers the key questions that your target market is likely to ask. Keep it short, about 300-500 words, making sure that you meet the minimum word requirements for the directories you wish to be published in.

Also make sure that you ask the reader to do what you want them to do. Have a strong call to action and then you will have likely created a successful article marketing campaign.

Cashless Society-Never See One Red Cent

[category ]
[tags ]

There are probably plenty of people today that think the moves that are being made to a cashless society are good ones. They get their paycheck directly deposited into their bank account and then use their debit card to make purchases.

If they have truly set up their own little cashless society they probably pay their bills online as well. They never see one red cent, they never hold a dollar bill in their hands anymore and they do not even have a checkbook either.

Everything they do and buy is with that little plastic card they get from the bank.

I for one still like the idea of having some bills and coins in my pocket, it makes me feel more secure. That may sound silly but I work hard for my money and like to see some of it on occasion.

There is even a more advanced form of being able to make purchases on the rise today as well. Cell phones.

You have most likely seen the commercial of the guy sitting in his chair, then realizing he has to go to the bank he gets up and gets into his hat and coat only to realize once more that all he has to do is take a photo of both sides of his check and send the photo to the bank to make his deposit. Then he removes his hat and coat and sits back down.

I agree that this sounds like a neat idea but then I think, why has he not just set up direct deposit with the company he works for? Maybe this works for third party checks as well but they make the commercial seem like it is his weekly paycheck.

I guess that in this ever growing, ever changing digital world this is called progress.

Then there are all of those restaurant and retail store gift cards and reloadable cash cards, too. Some of the cash cards are not reloadable but the idea is still there. You can usually purchase one of these cards for one of three set denominations from $25 to $100.

They are put out by the two major credit card companies Visa and Mastercard and can be used just about anywhere and for anything. All that is required of the user is to register the card online or by phone to activate it. Much like activating a credit card.

If everyone has the ability to pay for things they want electronically, almost no one would need a credit card. Buying small things on credit could possibly become a thing of the past.

Major purchases like buying a house or a car would still require a person to have a good credit rating but maybe consumers would stop getting themselves in way over their heads if they found it easier to live within their means.

Having instant access to their bank balances and the ability to pay using their cell phone could make the idea of a cashless society a reality sooner than anyone thinks.

The highest converting traffic I've ever seen...

Instant Traffic Generation is a new site that says it guarantees more web visitors and online advertising with very little effort or cost.  More importantly, it promises higher CONVERSIONS--signups and sales.  So I decided to put it to the test...

My first impression was the site looks professional and clean, with an attractive look and feel.  It is easy to read and understand.  Joining the site was easy and painless--they do offer 2 upgrade options but they are not required to gain the benefits.

The Members Area is very well laid out and intuitive--I could figure out what to do after only a few minutes and was able to get up and running in less than 5 minutes.  Inside the site, you create links and ads--the links you simply enter any URL links you use into the generator and it transforms them into "Instant Traffic Generation" links.  You create ads for anything you want to promote using the Instant Traffic Generation Ad Generator, which is very easy to use.  You can create as many links and as many ads as you like.  And they are organized in a logical way--links are displayed in the order you create them but also your 5 most recent links appear on the main page for quick reference.  Also, since the link generator is the tool you'll use most, it is also right at the top of the main page when you login.  Very smart!

After you've created at least 1 link and 1 ad you can start to generate traffic.  Just use and promote the new Instant Traffic Generation link instead of the original source link you had.  Every time the Instant Traffic Generation link is clicked, the page loads followed by a small ad window in the lower right corner.  It displays 3 ads PLUS an image with your affiliate link that goes back to Instant Traffic Generation.  So if anyone clicks the Instant Traffic Generation image they see the site, and if they signup they become your referral.  It's a great viral feature because you can build referrals without even trying to just by using the site.

Now every time the ad window displays (your Instant Traffic Generation links get clicked) you earn credits that get YOUR ad displayed in the ad windows when other members' links get clicked.  So the more clicks, the more times your ads get displayed.

And this works virally--meaning as you make referrals into Instant Traffic Generation (either by promoting it or just using it and visitors click the Instant Traffic Generation image on the ad window to join) you also earn ad credits on THEIR link clicks.  And this works up to 5 levels deep.  So you can create a massive amount of free ad views and web traffic by referring others to Instant Traffic Generation also.

I didn't get to test the full effect of a big downline yet (I just got the tool) but I can tell you the rest of the site works exactly as stated--my links got clicked, I earned credits, and my ads got displayed.  Instant Traffic Generation even tracked my results so I know how many clicks and how many ad displays.  That was an impressive unadvertised extra feature.

There is one more benefit and feature which might be the best of them all--downline emailing.  You can email your downline with offers, promotions, or whatever you like, and here is where Instant Traffic Generation really shines.  They took time to make the emailing often enough that it's valuable as a user, but no so often that it's a burden to your downline.  But the best part about this feature (and actually the credit earning too) is that it tells you exactly how long until you can mail again.  Now THAT's cool.

Overall, I have to say I am impressed with Instant Traffic Generation.  It is simple yet powerful, and delivers on its promises.  Highly recommended to anyone who wants to increase traffic and advertising.

See it and join here:

Plugin Launched to Tap Google’s Ranking via Social Signals

[category products]
[tags social networking,website,makemoneyfromhome,]

Online marketers have commenced leveraging social signals, the newest parameter that search engines like Google and Bing have admitted to using to rank social websites. Social Metrics Pro is one of the plugins that was announced this week.

In order to gain the best leverage out of Google’s recently announced ranking system using social signals, a new plugin known as Social Metrics Pro has been launched. This plugin is compatible with the WordPress platform and is available in a downloadable format.

For the uninitiated, Google announced about a month ago that it has started using feeds from social networking portals to rank the popularity of websites. With the advent of Web 2.0, people have become more actively participating in the working of the Internet rather than merely browsing it. Google feels that the number of comments and shares that website content receives through social networking websites is the right parameter to judge its popularity. Always one to be the pioneer, the Google search engine has used these feeds as the new ranking factors.

Among the social networking platforms that Google has targeted are included Twitter and Facebook. Every tweet made through Twitter and every like through Facebook is now a yardstick along which Google measures the popularity of websites.

Social Metrics Pro helps online entrepreneurs as it gives a true picture of the social popularity of online content. It uses a simple color coding system to illustrate this popularity. Content that is more popular is coded green while the one that needs attention is coded red. With this color coding system, it becomes easier for the marketer to convert the reds to greens, which means they can propel the viability of their content across online social networks.

Currently, Social Metrics Pro is capable of measuring Facebook Likes, Twitter Tweets, Google Plus +1s and several other social signals such as those from StumbleUpon and Digg. The plugin is being developed further so as to be able to measure social signals from other social networks as well.

Daniel Tan, a developer of Social Metrics Pro, says, “With Google’s newest announcement, there has been a lot of activity in the world of search engine optimization. Backlinking has now become passé; and marketers are looking at how to improve the visibility of their content on social networking websites. We purport to make this task easier for the online marketer with Social Metrics Pro.”

Social Metrics Pro has been also launched with a limited time Unlimited Sites Version, where it can be used to assess the performance of an unlimited number of websites with the same software inclusion.

Reflections on the US National Debt. Will we do what it takes to shrink it?

[category current events]
[tags debt,politics,]

by Dr. Jeffrey Lant

So, President Obama's bipartisan deficit commission headed by former Wyoming Senator Alan K. Simpson (R) and former Clinton Chief of Staff Erskine B. Bowles (D) has issued its preliminary report.

It is a stark, sobering document. It says, in glaringly specific ways, that we as a nation have blithely spent too much too long, unconcerned like Mad Magazine's Alfred E. Newman: "What me worry/"

Well, we have partied and now wake up to a colossal headache of global proportions. Now what?

President Obama, understanding that Congress needs help with this hot potato, early on in his term issued an Executive Order on the matter. Per this order, a panel of 18 members was created; 12 are members of Congress. Six are private citizens of impeccable pedigree. Fourteen of these commissioners must agree before the panel can send any recommendations to Congress, which they must do shortly.

What the commissioners recommend... so far

The commissioners were given a breath taking charge by the president: either recommend $4 trillion dollars in budget cuts and savings and/or raise that sum in tax revenues. Everything was on the table; nothing was sacrosanct and inviolable. In short, "deal with it, boys and girls, for the good of the nation!"

The commissioners, selected for a gravely serious purpose, took the matter seriously, and have produced a serious document... the more so since others both within the Congress and out continue to play "gotcha politics" on the matter. Not so the commissioners. They set about their vital work with a will that promises to be sadly lacking in a Congress which will ultimately decide on what to do. Here is the heart of what they reported.

Item: deep cuts in domestic and military spending

Item: gradual 15-cents-per-gallon increase in the federal gasoline tax

Item: limiting or eliminating popular tax breaks (including the home mortgage deduction) in return for lower rates.

Item: benefit cuts and an increased retirement age for Social Security.

It is all sensible, logical, necessary and desirable. It is also DOA because only the commissioners have the will to make changes... and they don't have the power to save a penny or increase tax revenues Thus, under the heading "Fools rush in where angels fear to trend", here are my thoughts and recommendations. Mr. and Mrs. America and all the ships at sea, take note.

1) We live in supremely selfish times where no one is willing to give up anything. "Ask not what you can do for your country. Ask what your country can do for you."

I start from the proposition that making the necessary changes to the budget will arouse the wrath of Americans nationwide, whatever Tea Party budget- balancing tenets they espouse. Everyone entering into this necessary budget shrinking debate should expect two certain things: up front high-blown patriotic rhetoric about sacrifices willingly made ; behind the scenes bare knuckle fighting of the crudest variety to protect the haves... no matter how grossly illogical and piggish their benefits.

2) Tackle Social Security first. It is the easiest to rehabilitate.

It is time someone told the American people, who treat tampering with Social Security as the third rail in politics (touch it and die), the truth. The entitled, immovable age of 65 is the cynical legacy of Europe's most successful politician, Prince Otto von Bismarck. He's the man who engineered the unification of Germany. Looking for a way to undermine the burgeoning late 19th century Socialist movement (very strong in Germany) he asked actuaries to find a number where most men would be dead and only voteless women left. Pensions would begin then. Otto and his conservatives get the credit... but have to pay little! Actuaries said age 65 would do the trick... and so it has remained.

Since Bismarck's day, however, there have been huge improvements in health and longevity, thereby making the number 65 less an "entitlement" than a fantastic gift from the government for many years, to the detriment of succeeding (and rightly concerned) generations who foot the bill.

Note: Congress should bite this bullet early and deep. Whereas the president's commissioners want to raise the age by gradual stages to year 69, instead make the magic number go to 71 for those in reasonable health who can work. It's the right thing.

3) Make each member of the Congress take a pledge to eschew "gotcha politics" on this matter. In our brutally tit for blood-letting tat Congress to say A (like "you voted to slash military spending") immediately fuels the opposition to return (B) a blow of equal or greater intensity (like "you voted to gut all domestic spending programs"). This gets us no where and fuels national rage about "do nothing" congresses.

Members of Congress raise money to clobber each other. That's what they do. They've been doing it since Minute 1 of the new republic. Now some aspiring statesman should, in the name of getting to yes with this budget imbroglio, say "basta!" and ask all members, on both sides of the aisle, to join him and appreciably move towards the solution we must have. Make working together politically attractive and a "must"; do this and the politically pusillanimous who constitute the core of the Congress will rush to embrace it.

4) Urge the president to spend his (admittedly diminished) political capital to solve this problem -- even at the risk of losing a second term.

Americans love big men who focus on big things which benefit the nation in big ways. Let our now wounded president do this and secure a truly significant and majestic legacy.

President Obama could rise to the occasion and say, "The issue of securing a balanced, lean, fair budget and with it the sound future of the nation is so important, I intend to make it my Number 1 priority. It is crucial that America get this benefit, and if it costs me my second term, so be it. It is the right thing to do." (P.S. Not only would this be statesmanship in the grand manner, but this wounded man would sail to a second term and a legacy of substance and real worth.)

5) Explain to America what is at stake. Then sell it to the nation.

John F. Kennedy's father, Joseph Kennedy, was a marketing man. He stayed behind the scenes, raised money and gave sharp, sensible advice. Before the crucial Wisconsin primary in 1960, he told his son Jack that they would sell him "like soap flakes." They did... he romped in the primary.... and got a crucial boost on the road to the presidency.

President Obama et al need to do the same thing now. Hire the best marketing brains on earth... brainstorm every benefit. Then go out and sell it to the nation. This matter of the budget is not the most difficult problem this country has ever faced; it's entirely solvable. What is necessary is to enlighten Americans, enlist their support and show them what to do. Then lock the Congress in a room and tell them to cut deals until the deed is done. And because cutting deals is what they do best, in due course the thing will be done. Then spread the credit, take the White House photographs... and start the next spending spree. For that is the American way

America needs millions of new jobs. This huge undertaking has set our citizens brainstorming. Here are just a few of their ideas... cool!

Author's program note. We shareholders of the United States of America, Inc. are deeply worried, perplexed, baffled and, yes, angry about our persistent unemployment rate, which continues to hover around 9%, with no end in sight. Experts, in fact, once so quick to offer their profound economic predictions based on their experience and study of past malaises are now gun shy, having been wrong so often; as a result their predictions are more opaque than ever, seeming to say much, but after explication saying absolutely nothing at all.

Into this breach the brightest and most well meaning folks have entered... unwilling to be patient a minute longer and anxious to show that American people can solve America's problems, even this draining one of unemployment. And so today, we celebrate what our never-say-die countrymen are dreaming up for bona fide jobs in the hopes that you, too, will join the parade and keep those grand ideas coming, timely and in detail.

For the appropriate music to accompany this article, I have selected the theme song of the film "9 to 5" which was released in 1980. Dolly Parton knocked this one out of the park, the bounciest tune ever composed on the unjust, unfair, and unending tricks, twists, and turns of the world of work. Ironically, most of the over 9% of unemployed Americans would positively jump at these jobs today... no matter the drawbacks... such is the level of our national desperation, apprehension, fear, and anxiety and why we need a Grand Alliance of the private sector and the governments of the nation -- local, state, and federal -- to create jobs, jobs, jobs.

Let's start with what some bright folks are doing in the great state of Florida where innovation and new ideas are sacrosanct and held in the highest regard. We must pause and here congratulate state Representative Brad Drake who at the beginning of October, 2011 filed a bill to stop letting convicted killers "get off that easy." His job- creating idea: to use firing squads, or (his far second choice) the electric chair for all those on death row.

Way to go, Brad!

Drake's bill would end the use of murderer-coddling lethal injection in Florida executions. Instead, those with a death sentence would get what every American craves, a choice; being entitled to choose between electrocution (remember, this is his personal second choice because it isn't the expedient that creates the most jobs in this sector) and a firing squad. He prefers the squad, because as a patriotic, jobs-creating American, that would create more jobs for needy Floridians.

Drake, one of those highly valued forward looking Republicans, said the idea came to him after having a conversation with a constituent at a Waffle House over the legal battles associated with the September 28, 2011 execution of Manuel Valle. All that sugar must have gone straight to his brain.

Valle's lawyers tried to stop the execution by arguing that a new lethal drug cocktail would cause him pain and therefore constitute cruel and unusual punishment. But courts rejected this argument and let the execution go forward. Why the coddling, Drake's constituent asked? They're murderers after all. And upon careful reflection this Tallahassee Solon agreed.

Drake is clear that the government is spending too much time listening to advocacy groups and instead should put in place a death sentence that forces convicted murderers to contemplate their fate. Now, Brad's got the bit between his teeth. He wants to make it hard on those murderers; never mind that they are being snuffed by state order. Yeah, he wants them to think about their pending punishment "every morning," as if they weren't doing that already. Besides, this is a great chance for entrepreneurs to get into the act.

Although Drake hasn't said so, I bet he's already thought up the idea of training squads of executioners and renting them out to other states which will, he is sure, come aboard after the program gets started; it's an idea, he reckons, whose time has come. And there's another financial advantage, too; we could rent these squads to foreign governments, more squeamish than we are, and so fill the empty coffers of Florida. This'll cinch the deal that ensures Rep. Drake's civic achievement.

No idea too small!

Our next great jobs-creating idea is also from Flori-duh, the land of ideas, light years ahead of other, less with-it Americans. Eat your heart out North Carolina for not dreaming up this one... this time legalized dwarf tossing.

Clueless citizen that you are, you probably didn't know that Florida's dwarfs are in unemployment lines getting welfare, when they could -- man, woman and child alike -- be doing good service (and sparing hard-pressed tax-payers) by being tossed around like a beach ball during happy hours statewide. Wow! Where do they come up with these really great ideas! Here are the facts...

According to Florida state Representative Ritch Workman, another one of those sharp- witted Republicans who run Florida these days, dwarfs are being oppressed by antediluvian state laws prohibiting them from being flung around bar rooms to enhance the drinking and entertainment experience of playful patrons, now miserable without their exuberant sport. This is a disgrace says Rep. Workman (so aptly named)... and he aims to set things to right and create a bright-shining example to other states which are still in the Dark Ages as far as dwarf tossing is concerned.

Thus, "Retain Rep. Workman for the Working Man", has introduced a bill that frees dwarfs for their destiny while likely shaving a bit off the state's horrendous unemployment rate, a punishing 1.6 percent above the US average... and a disgrace to Florida which clearly needs all the help it can get.

It's the double whammy of tough times for dwarfs getting jobs and the suppression of their God-given right to get tossed if and when they want to that fuels Workman's passion, for he is at once a man of tax-cutting, dollar-saving propensities and libertarian freedoms. As such, liberation of dwarfs everywhere demands his attention. And so he is aiming for nothing less than the overturning of the 1989 Florida law banning dwarf tossing as dangerous and dehumanizing.

But now get this... in an interview with Rep. Workman, published by Bloomberg News and running nationwide October 8, 2011, Ritch Workman said he personally found dwarf tossing "offensive" and "stupid". Still.... "If this is a job they want and people would pay to see it or participate in it, why in the world would we prohibit it?" Why indeed!

Democrats, of course, are irked beyond measure at this bill. They only want Floridians to have "real" jobs and wait patiently until their paladins create some; never mind that that might be years away. Carolyn Fiddler, a spokeswoman for the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee, dismisses the matter with a superior sniff. Of course she isn't a dwarf and has a job, too, and is far above the indignity of being passed from hand to hand by ruffians who might, not to put too fine a point on the matter, pinch the lady as she passes. This is, she is sure, yet another instance where Republicans don't get it. But most assuredly Rep. Workman does. He is after all a Man of Destiny, who sees clearly that less can be more.

Dolly was right!

I'm out of space for today, or I'd share with you more of these tales, for I have a ton of them. Suffice it to say people are not just waiting for Washington to wake up and focus on jobs. They're helping themselves and using their brains to create jobs, and we all ought to be glad for that. Unemployment hurts, and wouldn't you rather see folks in jobs they may not love than in no job at all? Maybe such a job wasn't the best on earth, but it did bring home the bacon... and besides I like hearing Dolly Parton sing. She can complain at my house any time she likes and make us believe "Your ship'll come in/ And the tide's gonna turn/ An' it's all gonna roll your way." We still believe this, don't we? Well, don't we?

By Sandi Hunter

Have you met Negative Ned?

How about Negative Nancy?

I bet you have.

They are the ones who have nothing good to say.

He's the one who rains on your parade every chance he gets.

She's the one who sours your dreams.

They are the one's who've tried it before and try to convince you it will never work.

They always know better than you.

She's the dream dasher.

He's the one who takes something beautiful and makes it ugly.

What do you do with these people?

Avoid them.

Go the other way.

People treat you as you ALLOW them to treat you.

Let them talk about why something will never work while you go out and make it happen.

Everyone who has ever accomplished something great has met Negative Ned and Negative Nancy.

Let their negative energy keep you focused on the positive, and on what IS achievable.

Say Goodbye to Negative Ned and Negative Nancy.

Don't let Ned, Nancy or anyone else for that matter, suck the life out of your dreams.
